TUSCALOOSA, AL (WAFF) - An evening of twists, leaps and other feats ended with a surprise that would have made many "flip their lids" with shock and excitement.
The last University of Alabama home gymnastics meet before the SEC championship ended with one of the team's seniors accepting a marriage proposal.
Former University of Alabama football player and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Kevin Norwood helped hand out awards after Alabama's meet against Oklahoma Friday night.
After awards were given and team photos were taken, Norwood made a presentation of his own.
He approached Kayla Williams, of Huntington, West Virginia, kneeled on one knee, and asked her to marry him.
Williams was visibly shocked, as were here teammates, as the question was popped.
And the answer?
Norwood tweeted moments later, "SHE SAID YES!"
According to the team's website, Williams earned a bachelor's in public relations and is now pursuing a master's in sports management.
Williams said the proposal at Coleman Coliseum was a shock. Norwood said he was nervous and that waiting for the meet to end was the longest two hours of his life.
