Alabama A&M Lady Bulldogs Fall in SWAC Tournament

 HOUSTON, Texas - The opening round of the Women's 2015 Toyota SWAC Basketball Tournament kicked off Wednesday afternoon with #2 seed Jackson State University facing up with #7 seed Alabama A&M at the Toyota Center.

The Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Bulldogs 89-82 in the Toyota Center. Alabama A&M led the entire game, with the biggest lead of 14 points at the end of the first half, 47-33. The Lady Bulldogs set the tempo early in the second half as well. 

The Lady Tigers never let up and continued to show that they could still get to the basket. The last few minutes of the ball game, the momentum switch and Jackson State would soon have the upper hand, tying the score 75-75. 

Alabama A&M took the last shot, when senior guard, Brittney Strickland attempted a short jumper, but was deflected by JSU, causing the game to go into overtime,  The Lady Tigers quickly scored the first two baskets in the overtime, pushing the score to 79-75. 

Taylor Sippial led the Lady Bulldogs with 23 points followed by Janie Myles with 16.  Brooke Dixon recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. .  Alisa Ross scored a team-best 22 to lead Jackson State. Ayanna Fuller-Hardy recorded a double-double with 20 points and game-high 13 rebounds.

Jackson State University (14-16 overall) will face the winner of Game 3 on Friday at 12:00 p.m.
