HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - A Huntsville Police Officer is on administrative leave following an arrest for assault.

Huntsville Police say Paige Pinkerton assaulted an employee of a local business. According to investigators, she was off duty at the time. The restaurant employee told police he was knocked unconscious and needed medical attention.

Huntsville Police say they launched an internal investigation and that investigation led to Pinkerton's arrest.

Pinkerton joined HPD in February 2014 and worked 2nd shift in the North Precinct.

A news release from Huntsville Police states, "We adhere to a professional tradition and a prescribed code of conduct; when that is breached we take it very seriously and we move to correct it."
