HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Investigators say a man attempting to make a drug sale led officers on a chase that resulted in a crash Tuesday afternoon.
It happened around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Interstate 565 and Sparkman Drive in Huntsville.
Sergeant Brian Chaffin with the Madison County Sheriff's Department said drug agents were performing surveillance in an area just south of the crash scene.
Agents said they saw Kendrick Sales attempt a drug sale, then followed Sales' vehicle with the intent of making a traffic stop.
Sales then sped away, according to investigators, driving through two intersections in the process.
They said he ran the red light at the Sparkman/565 intersection, smashing into another vehicle.
Two people inside the vehicle were suffered minor injuries, with one being transported to Huntsville Hospital.
Sales, meanwhile, ran away from the scene on foot, only to be caught by officers after a short distance.
He is charged with criminal mischief, attempting to elude a police officer, and several drug-related counts.
