Rancho Viejo in Muscle Shoals scored a 77 during their previous inspection. They needed at least an 85 this time to get off of the Colbert County Health Department's reinspection schedule. But they only earned an 82, making the restaurant a back-to-back Kitchen Cops low performer. They lost points because, according to the health inspector, the dish machine was not sanitizing properly. And the inspector reports finding pork and cheese dip that was kept past their expiration dates. An 80 for OK Corral in Muscle Shoals. The inspector reports several food items in the hot holding unit were not hot enough, 11 to 18 degrees below the temperature required to prevent bacterial growth. OK Corral also lost points because they were using damaged utensils and spatulas.

Nan's in Sheffield is a back to back Kitchen Cops low performer. An 83 last time, a 77 this time. The inspector reports a workers touched ready to eat food with their bare hand. Also, and ashtray with tobacco in it was spotted on a table near clean linens. An 83 for the J Mart at 1100 Highway 72 East in Athens. The inspector says chicken wings were held 15 to 25 degrees under the required temperature for hot holding food. The Fiesta Mexicana in Athens had been a low performer three straight times. But that streak is over. They scored a 91, 12 points better than their previous inspection. The Casa Mexicana in Sheffield scored a 90, nine points better than last time.

The Convenient Mart Albertville rose a dozen points over their previous inspection, scoring an 88. And the Burrito Express in Athens had the best score of any previous low performer this week . A nifty 96 this time, a 12 point improvement. Café 72 on Highway 72 in Huntsville is one of six Kitchen Cops High Performers this week. And each of the six scored a 98. The others; the Steak-Out on Whitesburg Drive in Huntsville; On the Rocks in Florence; City Hardware, also in Florence; Los Primos in Russellville; and Oasis Deli & Tropical Snow in Leighton.
