Sleet, rain Thursday; some snow Friday

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Rain will move in Thursday night and could mix with a few sleet pellets as it begins.

Temperatures will remain in the upper 30s Thursday night and into Friday morning, so no icy roads are expected.

Light to moderate rain will fall throughout the day on Friday and temperatures will hold steady and remain in the lower 40s. Expect some breaks in the rain with less than a half-inch of total rainfall.

Friday night, a cold upper-level disturbance will move right over North Alabama and southern Tennessee.

If enough moisture is left over, we could see a few hours of light snow. Any accumulation would be confined to grassy areas and rooftops.

Road temperatures will stay above freezing. If snow becomes heavy at times, travel problems could develop on elevated road surfaces between 12-4 a.m. Saturday.
