UAH Baseball Ranked Second, Three Voted to Preseason All-GSC
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference released its 2015 Baseball Preseason Coaches' Poll and the 2015 Preseason All-GSC Team on Wednesday morning, and the University of Alabama in Huntsville was predicted to finish second overall in the league as voted on by league coaches.
UAH is coming off the program's second GSC Championship and first since 2001, following a 41-16 regular season record including a 22-7 mark in conference matchups. The Chargers received a total of 72 points in the poll including three first-place predictions, second only to Delta State who received 77 points and seven first-place nods.
West Florida (66), Valdosta State (58) and West Alabama (48) round out the top five teams in the poll, followed by North Alabama (45), West Georgia (33), Shorter (23), Union (18) and Christian Brothers (10) in the poll.
The Chargers were represented on the Preseason All-GSC Team by seniors Chandler Brock, Tyler Howell, and Brandon Lawing. Brock and Lawing earned All-GSC First Team for UAH last year, while Howell was tabbed for the Second Team.
The GSC also revealed the 2015 Top Newcomers to the GSC list, in which the Blue and White were represented by Auburn-transfer Daniel Koger and Wilson Adams.
The 2015 slate of games for the Chargers begins on Feb. 7 with a doubleheader at Charger Park where UAH welcomes Maryville for a three-game set.
