Troopers: Racing leads to 2-vehicle wreck in Toney

TONEY, AL (WAFF) - Witnesses told state troopers a two-vehicle wreck in Madison County was the result of a race that ended in a collision.

It happened around 3:30 Sunday afternoon near the area of Carter Grove and Opp Reynolds Road in Toney.

Witnesses said a sport utility vehicle and a blue Mustang were racing down Carter Grove, when the SUV lost control and hit a silver sedan almost head-on.

The SUV flipped on its side and caught fire.

Officials said the driver of the sedan was taken by HEMSI to the hospital. No word on their condition at this time. The driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries.

Madison County deputies assisted with traffic control.

State troopers are still investigating.
