North Alabama could receive up to 1 inch of snow

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Wintry weather is moving across the Valley today.

Our meteorologists say the Tennessee Valley could receive as much as 1/2 inch of snow by this evening as of an upper-level disturbance moves overhead.

Snowfall will wrap up from west to east this afternoon. Forecasters say western areas are likely to see only a trace, but some locations to the east could get as much as 1/2 inch of snow. The Huntsville metro area should see a trace to 1/4 inch of snow. Any rain/snow/sleet will end by this evening.

Temperatures will drop into the upper 20s overnight, so anything left on the ground should freeze by early Friday. Black ice is possible during the typical morning rush.

Temperatures should climb back above freezing by 9 or 10 a.m. with sunny skies.
