NORTH ALABAMA (WAFF) - Roads may remain slick in the overnight hours. A Winter Weather Advisory that had been in effect for much of the day Thursday was allowed to expire, though chilly temperatures may keep some slick spots troublesome through Friday morning.
Drivers should use caution on overpasses and elevated roadways when traveling.
The wintry weather will quickly be winding down from west to east Thursday night, and clouds should begin to diminish overnight.
Temperatures will fall into the upper 20s by Friday morning, so any leftover water will likely freeze. Some patchy fog may also develop, leading to reduced visibilities and the potential for freezing fog.
Patchy black ice is possible during the Friday morning commute. Fortunately, abundant sunshine on Friday will have temperatures above freezing by mid morning with afternoon highs around 50°.
After a seasonably chilly, but quiet morning, afternoon sun and temperatures in the middle 50s can be expected for Saturday.
