Woman turns to Facebook, helps solve neighborhood burglary

Good morning!

Here's what we're working on in the WAFF 48 newsroom:

Today, former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman is appealing for a new trial.

He wants to overturn  his 2006 conviction on bribery and obstruction charges.  He's also asking for a reduced sentence.  We expect his lawyers to argue that the involvement of a U.S. attorney with ties to Republican politics tainted the trial.

Also, we have a great story of a citizen investigator.  An Arab woman helped solved a burglary investigation in her neighborhood in less than 24 hours.

Someone broke into Lori Bishop's neighbor's house on Friday afternoon.  When she found out, she pulled her home surveillance video and video from a neighbor.  What she did next landed a man in jail. http://bit.ly/1u1ufcc

Finally, there's a new phone scam you need to know about.

The Madison County Sheriff's office says a caller is telling people they're being fined for missing a grand jury appearance or have an arrest warrant.  They then say you can pay over the phone with a green dot prepaid debit card.  The Sheriff says they just don't do this.

We'll have much more on this story and more, beginning at 5 am.

Have a wonderful day!
