Bracing cold leads to school delays, dangerous fires

Good Wednesday evening and Happy Hump Day! I hope you're staying warm!

The Tennessee Valley is under a wind chill advisory, with temperatures set to drop into the teens overnight and the wind chills making it feel like single digits. As a result, we've had school systems delaying the start of class Thursday morning, warming stations have been set up for those who in need and we're also seen some dangerous fires as people try to stay warm.

One of those fires broke out late this afternoon at the Imperial Gardens Apartment complex on North Parkway in Huntsville. In fact, at last report, firefighters are still working to put out hot spots. One elderly woman was trapped briefly had to be taken to the hospital. We'll have more on her condition, as well as the latest information on how many people have been displaced and any word of a possible cause.

I'll also have word of a criminal card trick in my weekly Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers report. In a frightening twist, a woman was informed of some illegal activity with her debit card, even though her debit card was never stolen. This crook was able to gain access to her account. We'll have a clear picture of this crook in action, with your chance to pocket up to a thousand bucks.
