HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - With this cold weather, what you wear is very important. Wearing layers can protect you from frostbite and hypothermia.
You want to make sure any place on your body that's exposed is covered. Of course that includes pretty much everything. You can layer with undershirts, or thermals that cover your legs too. Wearing boots and thicker socks are a good idea as well.
Before you get dressed there's another important step you need to take.
Dr. Tim Howard says, "One of the most important things is going to be hydration. They need to make sure they're hydrated because one of the quickest ways for your body to breakdown is volume depletion and hydration so that's really critical."
Dr. Howard says we use a lot of fluids and being hydrated properly keeps your body in a good regulated zone.
