HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Huntsville police are investigating the apparent shooting deaths of two people.
Investigators went to a home on the 3100 block of Hale Drive around 12 p.m. Monday.
Inside, they found the bodies of a man and a woman, laying side-by-side, each with gunshot wounds. Officers said the man's wound was apparently self-inflicted. Police believe she'd been shot by her husband, and he had apparently shot himself.
An autopsy on the pair will be conducted Tuesday to confirm if the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide.
Madison County Coroner Craig Whisenant said the couple were found in their bed and had apparently been there since Sunday night. Investigators said the pair last spoke to someone on the phone that day.
Neighbors said the woman had a series of health problems recently, but that they knew the couple, and in particular the man as being friendly and outgoing.
We spoke with the victims' family Monday evening; they are asking for privacy and time to process in the wake of the news.
A family member said they are all badly shaken, and at least for now, are not interested in talking about what happened.
The names of the man and woman who died have not been officially released.
