MONTGOMERY, AL (WAFF) -

The Alabama Republican party will soon be under new leadership.

That's because GOP Chairman Bill Armistead says he won't run for re-election and a third term.

Armistead says he wants to be involved in the 2016 Presidential primary.

He says he can't do that and lead the state party.

The Republican Party's Executive committee meets in Montgomery in February to elect a new chairman.
