HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville police said two women were injured during an incident in North Huntsville Sunday afternoon during which shots were fired. However, neither woman was shot.

Police responded to the scene on Oakwood Avenue and Russell Street around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators said two women were in an altercation, during which one woman allegedly ran over the other with her car.

A third party then fired multiple shots toward the vehicle as the driver left the scene.

A neighbor told us she heard six gunshots coming from in the street. She said she went outside to see a girl jumping into a red vehicle before it peeled out from the scene.

"I was just kind of panicked, you know," the neighbor said. "You just don't hear gunshots - I don't hear gunshots around here."

HEMSI transported the woman who was injured by the vehicle to Huntsville Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.

The driver of the car made it as far as the Madison Park Apartments off Slaughter Road in Madison. Emergency crews were soon called to the complex.

The woman was transported to Madison Hospital with a non-life-threatening laceration wound.

Huntsville police are still investigating the incident. No arrests have been made at this time.
