CAPE CANAVERAL, FL (WAFF) - The safety reviews are complete and Orion is ready to go. On Tuesday at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, crews went through safety walk downs ahead of Thursday's launch.
A Decatur-built Delta IV Heavy rocket will launch the Orion spacecraft into deep space.
This flight will test the crew capsule's riskiest systems, including the heat shield.
At a briefing on Tuesday, NASA program manager Mark Geyer said part of him hopes the flight test is perfect, but if there are subtleties, he hopes they find that on this test flight.
Rain is in the forecast for Thursday morning, but with a two and a half hour window starting at 7:05 a.m. ET, they expect to be able to launch.
