HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Two people were removed from a Huntsville hotel after an hours-long disturbance that brought emergency crews from multiple agencies.

The incident began just after 7 p.m. Sunday on the second floor of the Hampton Inn on Highway 431 South. HPD, Owens Cross Roads police, Madison County Sheriff's deputies, SWAT, HEMSI, state troopers and fire & rescue crews were called to the scene as the hours wore on.  They responded to the hotel in response to a felony theft.

Authorities located the offender in one of the rooms and discovered he had outstanding felony warrants. He was barricaded in the room along with a woman.

Just before midnight, Ryan Edward Newberry, 33, was placed into custody. He came out peacefully along with the woman after a 45-minute negotiation with authorities.

The female was also taken in by authorities, but she will not face any charges. Deputies said it was a possible domestic situation.

The man was charged with first degree theft of a large quantity for the theft of money and a cell phone.

During the incident, authorities evacuated the floor of the hotel and had the residents in a safe location inside the hotel while they negotiated and took the man and woman into custody.

The investigation into the incident continues.
