Pedestrian killed on North Memorial Parkway

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Authorities shut down the northbound lanes of North Memorial Parkway, just north of Sparkman Drive, due to a wreck involving a pedestrian Wednesday evening.

It happened around 7 p.m. Police said a 40-year-old man was hit while trying to cross the street in the 3500 block of North Memorial Parkway.

The pedestrian died at the scene. Police are not releasing his name until his family has been notified.

A wrecking crew was called to haul away the vehicle involved in the wreck around 8:30 p.m. The parkway was re-opened shortly after 9 p.m.

At this time, no charges are pending.
