Freezing temperatures settle in the Valley overnight

Good Morning!

Here's what we're working on in the WAFF 48 newsroom:

Meteorologist David Ernst will start off our newscasts this morning with a very cold forecast.  Temperatures are in the teens and low 20's in parts of the Valley, and you shouldn't expect it to get too much warmer than that.  He'll have your work and school day forecast every 10 minutes.

Advocates for the elderly are urging them to winterize and bundle up in these conditions.

The Madison County non profit CASA, is putting together supplies for the elderly and reminding them to make sure they keep their thermostats high.

CASA says home utility assistance won't be available until January, so seniors should dress warmly and seriously consider going somewhere else if their homes get too cold.

Please stop in and join us this morning before heading out the door.

Have a great day!
