HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Normally when you hear the term "ATM theft," you think of a crook using a stolen credit card to steal money from an automatic teller machine.

But recently, a crook tried to steal the whole ATM, and he used another unique machine to try and do it.

Surveillance video shows a backhoe pulling up to the ATM at the National Bank of Commerce on Meridian Street Nov. 3.

The person operating the backhoe took several minutes to ram the machine from a couple of different directions,

Eventually the crook succeeded in knocking the ATM off it's foundation.

Police said the machine was pulled to the side of the parking lot.

In all, the damage to the ATM totaled $15,000. It appears the crook didn't get any money, because they're facing a charge of criminal mischief.

Police said the backhoe came from a construction site right next door. A witness saw a gold pickup truck driving around the area just before the crime.

Any idea who this person is? You can pocket a reward of up to $1,000.
