Deadly house fire in Muscle Shoals; Oscar Pistorius sentenced to prison
We've been following a developing story in the WAFF 48 Newsroom all night, and this morning, we were able to confirm that at least one person was killed in a late night house fire in Muscle Shoals. Our Muriel Bailey is on the way to the scene right now and will have live updates starting at 5:03.
As I was writing up this email, the sentence for Oscar Pistorius came down. A judge sentenced him to 5 years in prison for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. The judge made the remark that, "A non-custodial sentence would send wrong message to the community." We'll take live looks at the South African courtroom where this ruling was just issued.
And back here in Alabama, the big story of the morning is still the indictment of House Speaker Mike Hubbard for felony ethics violations. We've got reaction from lawmakers across the state, and later today, we expect his attorney to hold a news conference to address the indictment.
