TUSCUMBIA, AL (WAFF) - Deshler High School football coach Jake Linville died Sunday, according to Tuscumbia city leaders.
Linville had been head coach for the Deshler team since the resignation of John Mothershed. He was interim coach for two months before school officials made his position official in March.
Linville had been part of the Deshler staff since 2010. According to school officials, Linville was also a history teacher.
A student-led prayer service is scheduled for 7:15 a.m. Monday at Colbert Heights High School, one of several area campuses offering support to the Deshler family in their time of grief.
Other schools in the area took to social media Sunday night to offer their condolences to the Deshler community. Sheffield Football tweeted in part, "You can lean on your Sheffield family during this tough time."
A cause of death has not been officially announced. An investigation is ongoing.
Linville leaves behind a wife and two daughters.
