Almost everyone loves a good, hot cup of Joe, and Monday is the day to celebrate that love.
National Coffee Day is a day to celebrate caffeine, white chocolate mochas, black coffee, cream, sugar, and all the other wonderful things included in a coffee-lover's world.
We drink coffee before work, during work, and sometimes even after work. First dates are held over coffee and catching up with old friends usually involves a cup or five.
The history of coffee goes at least as far back as the 13th century with a number of reports surrounding its first use. The original native population of coffee is thought to have come from East Africa, according to wikipedia.org. By the 16th century, coffee had reached the rest of the Middle East, Persia, Turkey and northern Africa. Coffee then spread to the Balkans, Italy and to the rest of Europe, to Indonesia and then to America.
Several places have special deals for the national holiday. McDonald's is continuing their free coffee deal through breakfast on Monday, Dunkin' Donuts is offering a free medium cup of hot Dark Roast Coffee, Krispy Kreme is offering a free 12 ounce coffee or a one dollar small latte, mocha, or iced coffee to celebrate, and Kangaroo Express is selling 12 ounce Bean Street Coffee for a penny.
So go ahead and fill it up today and get away with drinking way too many cups of coffee.
