FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) - University of North Alabama Police Department officials are investigating a threat written on the wall of a bathroom on campus.
Police were notified about the threat this afternoon after someone found the threat in a men's bathroom in Collier Library.
"I hope somebody was just, I don't know, venting or something around those lines." said Emmanuel Nared, a UNA student. "It's unfortunate that it happened at this university. I just hope and pray that nothing happens."
According to police, the threat was not directed to anyone specifically. The threat did say that four people would die on Oct. 9, 2014.
UNA Police Chief Robert Pastula sent out an email alerting the campus about the threat and the possible danger.
Pastula said he's staffing each shift with additional personnel effective immediately. Extra safety precautions are also being taken in and around residence halls and campus apartments.
Pastula also said while there is no evidence at this time that the threat is credible, they are taking necessary precautions and investigating several leads.
UNA police are asking anyone with any information to contact the University Police Department at 256-765-4359.
