Invocation, budgets, and a plea for action at council meeting

Good Thursday evening, everyone. Here's what we are working on for our 10 p.m. newscast.

The Huntsville City Council voted unanimously tonight to approve a $246-million general fund operating budget for fiscal year 2015. Council members also adopted two 10-year capital plans that will provide $140-million next year in road and infrastructure improvements.

Also at tonight's city council meeting, an atheist delivered the invocation prior to the meeting. This move comes after a Wiccan was uninvited to give the prayer a few weeks ago. We were there for that historic moment - we'll take you inside the council chambers tonight at 10.

And, the family of a murdered homeless man is demanding more action from the city. We'll tell you what they want to see happen.

Join us at 10 for these stories and more. I'll see you then.
