HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Our phones are one of the most important pieces of technology. So what happens if you're hacked - did you know you could get a nasty virus on your phone?
When you think about it, it makes sense. Smartphones are really nothing more than small computers. And if you click on the wrong site or link, your phone and all its content is vulnerable.
"The whole idea is to get you to a website that could gain access to your phone or download a virus to your phone," said Michele Mason of the Better Business Bureau.
And now the popular Facebook "Throwback Thursday" is being used to lure users into clicking on the wrong thing. You get a text from someone you don't know that tells you they have posted a throwback picture of you.
"Of course they are hoping that I will be curious enough to click on the link to see what the picture looks like and I know better," Mason said.
