GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Immanuel Gage Allen pleaded guilty on Monday to manslaughter in the 2012 death of his girlfriend's 11-month-old baby.

Allen had been charged with capital murder in the death of 11-month-old Gemma Moore. Investigators said the child died from blunt force trauma to the head.

At Monday morning's hearing, Allen said he pushed Gemma off of the bed and she hit her head on a CD player. He never explained why he committed the act.

The prosecution said Gemma had been shaken and had a broken collar bone. The judge accepted the plea, despite the reduction of the charge.

For the mother of the victim, seeing Allen in court Monday was difficult - as is her loss.

"I had to breathe; I just couldn't stand looking at him," said Bridgett LaShae Hunter. "I looked away most of the time, knowing I can't hold her anymore. I can't play with her. It's just terrible."

Sentencing has been set for Oct. 15. He could face a term of up to 20 years in prison.
