Man who led Huntsville police in standoff taken into custody

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Police took a man who had barricaded himself into custody late Friday night after nearly a seven-hour standoff.

It happened at a home located on Lasalle Rd.

Police blocked off some streets in the neighborhood during what they called a "dangerous situation."

An officer at the staging area said during the height of the conflict that contact was cut to let the situation settle, but they later worked to reestablish contact.

Police said the man did not present a weapon during the evening, and surrounding neighbors were not evacuated. A SWAT team and crisis negotiators were brought in to help defuse the situation.

Around 11 p.m. Friday night, the standoff subject was taken into police custody. There were no injuries.

More details about the subject and the investigation are expected soon by Huntsville police officials.
