MADISON, AL (WAFF) - A fire broke out at a home on Highway 53 near Shady Grove Road at around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
The family said the fire started in the living room.
Devonte Chandler said he and his brother tried to throw some of the flaming items out of the house, but it just spread too fast.
"I rushed into the living room and I saw some items that was on fire and I grabbed as many as I could and threw them out the window but I couldn't get to all of them," Chandler said.
Officials said the fire was fully involved, coming out every window. Harvest, Toney, Hazel Green, and Bobo fire officials responded to the fire.
They saw smoke and flames coming from the living room, and it took them about 15 to 20 minutes to put the fire out.
No one was injured, but the family of seven was displaced. The Red Cross was notified and went to the scene.
