PRICHARD, AL (WAFF) - Alabama authorities are looking for a missing child from the Prichard area.

Hiawaya Robinson has been missing since Tuesday afternoon. She is 8 years old, last seen wearing a green-and-white 'Hello Kitty' shirt with purple shorts. She has braids in her hair with clear beads.

She left her apartment going to her cousin's apartment in the same complex. She has not been seen since that time.Prichard is about five miles northwest of Mobile.Search dogs picked up the girl's scent along the edges of a wooded area nearby, according to NBC affiliate WPMI, who reports that a state helicopter will aid in the search for Robinson.

Prichard Interim Police Chief Michael Rowland told WPMI the circumstances did not meet the qualifications of an Amber alert because there is no indication of an abduction. He added that Robinson's name has been added to the National Crime Information Center database.

EDIT: A body found a mile from Robinson's home Thursday was confirmed to be that of the 8-year-old girl. Click here for more.
