DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Marshall County Sheriff Scott Walls said Deputy Ricky Segers is no longer employed.

Segers, 41, of Guntersville was charged with driving under the influence, according to Decatur police.

Decatur police said a traffic stop was conducted on Segers' vehicle around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night at Highway 67 and Indian Hills Road. It is unclear why he was in Morgan County at the time.

He was placed under arrest and jailed shortly after midnight.

Segers made a $500 bond Sunday morning just before noon.

Segers was hired for a very short time as a part-time corrections officer before being hired full-time in July 2012. He became a full-time sheriff's deputy in February 2013.
