Hartselle city hall shakeup after Mayor's DUI arrest

HARTSELLE, AL (WAFF) - After being arrested and charged with DUI over the weekend, Hartselle Mayor Don Hall will not be serving as mayor for an undetermined amount of time.

According to a press release, Hall will be addressing personal issues.

On Friday night, State Troopers arrested Hall after receiving reports of a car driving erratically along Interstate 65 in Limestone County. Hall failed a roadside sobriety test and he was charged with driving under the influence.

City Council President Bill Smelser will act as Mayor pro tempore with the power and authority of mayor during the time Hall is out.

Council President pro tempore Kenny Thompson will serve as council president.
