LAWRENCE COUNTY, TN (WAFF) - Police are looking for a missing 6-year-old girl after she was reportedly taken from her Lawrence County, Tennessee school on Monday morning.

Officials say Amanda Young took her daughter, Ashlynn Tay Young, from David Crockett Elementary School around 8 a.m.

The child is 3'6" tall, weighs about 50 pounds, and has blond hair and blue eyes. Her mother, Amanda Young, is 30-years-old, is 5'2" and weighs 117 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes.

Police say Amanda Young doesn't have legal rights to the child and Ashlynn was in the custody of her grandmother.

According to authorities, the child may be in danger because of her mother's mental condition. They did not release a photo of the child or her mother.

Authorities believe they could be on their way to the Mobile, Alabama area. Anyone with information on their whereabouts should call the Lawrence County, Tennessee Sheriff's Office at 931-762-3626.
