MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - When WAFF 48 News reported Cafe 72 in Limestone County had scored a 73 in the August 29th Kitchen Cops report, it created some confusion. It turns out, there is another food establishment called Cafe 72. They operate at the Citgo on Highway 72 East near PPG Industries.

Co-owner Gene Stone said some people thought what they saw was about his Cafe 72.

"It terrified me because we had just opened three days before that. I was really worried that everyone would get it confused. And some did. Facebook lit up. 'We saw your cafe on the news,' " Stone said.

This Cafe 72, open for just two weeks, scored a near perfect 99 during their very first inspection. Stone said serving tasty food is important, but that food safety is the top priority.

"Kitchen safety, temperature safety, all of that we're very, very strict on," Stone said.

Gene added that he and his partner are working hard to grow this new business.

"We've started off doing lunch and supper, 11 in the morning until 8 at night. It's all country food," he said.

The Greenbrier Restaurant on Old Highway 20 in Madison scored an 83 with the Limestone County Health Department. The health inspector reported they found dirty food bins stored with clean ones. The inspector also reported the ice maker needed cleaned, and that they were using chipped plates.

Rhonda P's Catering Service in Phil Campbell scored an 83. A Franklin County health inspector reported no one there had a current food safety course certification.

It takes at least an 85 to get off of the health department's reinspection schedule, and Lil Dottie's in Tanner did just that. They scored a 75 and a 71 during their previous two inspections.

Workers at Mr. Crite's Bar-B-Que in Athens earned their off of the reinspection schedule, too, scoring a 94, nineteen points better than last time.
