Decatur police make drug arrest during traffic stop

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - Decatur Police Department 's Anti-Crime Unit conducted a traffic stop on a silver Mercury Sable in the 2200 block of Calray Ave. SW for a traffic violation on Friday at approximately 6:12 p.m.

The officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle and identified him as Robert Christopher Callahan and the passenger as Kayla Leann Kilpatrick. 

During the investigation, Callahan was found to be in the possession of a quantity of drug paraphernalia, and that his drivers license had been revoked. 

Kilpatrick was found to be in the possession of a quantity of Synthetic Cannabinoids (spice) and drug paraphernailia. 

Callahan was placed under arrest for Driving While Revoked, Following too Close, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Tampering with Physical Evidence. 

Kilpatrick was placed under arrest for Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Both Callahan and Kilpartick were taken to the Decatur Police Department where they were processed without incident. 

Callahan will remain in the Decatur City Jail on a $2,000.00 bond. 

Kilpartick will be transported to Morgan County Jail on a $3,000.00 bond.
