SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA (Seven Network/CNN) - On drugs and in control of a 35-ton vehicle, bus driver Shaun Murphy was caught on camera smoking synthetic cannabis behind the wheel.

For a moment he steered with his elbow, and sometimes he had no control at all.

The 57-year-old's Sunday joy ride came to an end as he passed out.

Murphy wiped out two fences before careening into a home.

Police say Murphy had earlier picked up passengers, but no one was onboard at the time of the crash.

The Busways employee pleaded guilty at Penrith Court to driving recklessly and driving with illicit substances in his blood.

He also tested positive to morphine and methylamphetamine.

Busways said Murphy suffered an unknown medical condition. The company said he had been an employee for less than a year and no longer works there.
