Two hospitalized in Florence dog attack

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) -

Two people have been hospitalized after a dog-attacked them Thursday inside a Florence apartment.

A man and woman were dog-sitting at the Trellises Drive residence when the incident occurred, police say.

"We just had a dog attack us in our sleep and I'm bleeding," the woman states in the 911 call. Boone County officials say the dog bit the man while he was still in bed Thursday morning and then went after the woman when she came to his aid.

Upon arrival, officers reported they could hear the man and woman inside the apartment yelling "help."

Authorities say officers secured the dog, reportedly a Pit Bull and Labrador mix, by coaxing it into a bathroom with food. Both victims were then transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence with multiple dog bites on their arms.

Boone County Animal Control took custody of the dog and are working with Florence Police to investigate the incident.
