FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Officials with the University of North Alabama said graffiti was found Wednesday morning at the construction site for UNA's new Science and Technology building.

UNA Police Chief Robert Pastula said they were alerted after a job superintendent found red spray paint on various parts of the building's exterior. More graffiti was found inside the building, on construction equipment, and on the overpass next to the site.

No gang signs were present. Pastula said they have not released information on suspects and are still investigating.

Crews are working to remove the spray paint. The cost of the cleanup could be in the $5-8,000 range, according to Michael Gautney, assistant vice president for Facilities Administration and Planning at UNA. If cleanup is not successful, replacing what was damaged could cost as much as $50,000.

University administrators said they are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.

"This reward is to encourage anyone who might have information or have seen something to come forward," said David Shields, vice president of Student Affairs. "This information could be very helpful in finding those responsible for the damage."
