SCOTTSBORO, AL (WAFF) -

Three out of the four municipal races in the City of Scottsboro will head to a runoff.

In the race for Place 4 on the Scottsboro City Council, N. Keith Smith won with a count of 1,404 votes, or 59 percent of the tabulated vote against Blake Burns. Smith's is the only race that does not have to go on to a runoff election.

For Place 3, a runoff will be held between Tony Wallingsford, who held 47 percent of the vote, and Carol McCrary, who held 33. They ran against Tim Saint, who received 20 percent of all votes.

In the Place 5 contest, front-runners Gary Stewart and Greg Mashburn were separated by only 50 votes. They will move ahead to the runoff, leaving behind Terry Thomas, who received 20 percent of the vote.

For the Scottsboro Board of Education race, the runoffs will be a contest between Tuesday night's leader, Julie Gentry, and second-place finisher Greg Bell, who also were separated by 50 votes. Linda Rogers will not be proceeding further in the race, with 13 percent of the vote.

Runoffs will be held Oct. 7.
