(CNN) – The nation's largest airline has cut ties with the booking website Orbitz.

The American Airlines group says ticket sales on the site would stop immediately.

An announcement blames a breakdown in contract talks for the decision to end their partnership. They were at odds over the portion of ticket sales that Orbitz would receive.

American Airlines says previously purchased tickets will be honored, but that no new tickets will be sold.

Earlier this year, American Airlines merged with U.S. Airways to create the American Airlines Group.
