Municipal elections kick off in the Valley

Good Morning!

Here's what we're working on in the WAFF Newsroom:

First, State Attorney General Luther Strange filed a motion to drop charges against former lawmaker Lowell Barron and Rhoda Johnson.

Barron is accused of illegally using campaign funds to buy gifts for Johnson because they were a couple.  Both were indicted in 2013, however, the Alabama Supreme Court ruled the attorney general could not introduce evidence that they were in a romantic relationship.

WAFF's Muriel Bailey will have more details on this story beginning at 5AM.

Today, people in Huntsville and Scottsboro will head to the polls to vote in municipal elections.

In Huntsville, 9 people are running for three seats on the Huntsville School Board, and five people are battling for two seats on the City Council.

In Scottsboro, voters will decide three city council races and one school board race. http://bit.ly/1mLMsRM

We'll have much more on these stories and more on WAFF 48 News Today.

Have a wonderful day!
