ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Albertville Police solved burglary investigation before they even knew someone committed a crime.

Investigators said they were responding to a domestic call, and they found the vehicle they were looking for at the BP convenience store off Highway 431 over the weekend.

Police were searching for a person in that car. The suspect attempted to run, but was apprehended at the scene.

During the course of the investigation and their interview of the man, they noticed something odd in his car - boots.

The discovery of numerous boxes inside the vehicle led police just down the highway to determine why all of those boxes were in the vehicle.

"After they discovered the boots, the officers went to the Trading Post just down 431 from where they were at and discovered that a storage building had been broke into there," said Assistant Chief Jamie Smith. "Officers were able to recover, I believe, seventeen pair of boots and four Carhartt vests."

Assistant Chief Smith said one person is in custody on unrelated charges and they're searching for a second suspect.

Charges, he said, are forthcoming.

David: Showers and storms ongoing across the Valley

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
