Meth found in Decatur motel; 3 arrested

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - The Decatur Police Department's Patrol Division responded to a 911 call at a motel on Wednesday. 

The call was received from an undetermined room. After further investigating, the people in the room were identified as William Alfonso Swopes and Amanda Morrow. Officers soon discovered that Swopes had an active felony warrant in Ohio.

Investigators confirmed Swopes' warrant. After gathering information that James Daniel Sapp Jr. was in a nearby room with Jennifer Lee Rakestraw and intended to soon arrive with an amount of methamphetamine.

Officers located Rakestraw and discovered meth in her possession. Rakestraw also had active felony warrants, but through the Morgan County Sheriff's Office.

After approaching Sapp in the parking lot, officers detained him and later determined he had over eight grams of meth in his possession. 

Sapp was then arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. He was booked into the Decatur City Jail and later transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a five-thousand-dollar bond.

Rakestraw was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of a controlled substance. She was booked into Decatur City Jail and later transferred to Morgan County Jail. her bond is set at twenty-five-hundred-dollars for the unlawful possession of a controlled substance charge.
At the conclusion of the investigation, William Swopes was placed under arrest as a fugitive from justice. He was booked into the Decatur City Jail and later transferred to Morgan County Jail where he will remain until he is extradited back to Ohio.
