TONEY, AL (WAFF) -

A Madison County woman holds her breath every time she cranks her car.

The reason? Her car is part of a General Motors recall. She was notified of two potentially defective parts that need to be replaced.

The problem is, she's been told they don't have those parts available yet.

Angie Knox lives in Toney. She says about two months ago she received two recall notices from GM regarding parts to her 2007 Pontiac G6. The brake light and transmission shift cable both need to be replaced.

According to GM, there have already been crashes and injuries involved with both. But they don't currently have the parts available and no timetable when they'll have them.

Knox has a 4-year old and a teenager and fears for all of them while she waits.

"I feel I'm not getting no help from them and it's their fault, their responsibility," Knox said. "Why don't they have these parts? I'm sure I'm not the only person going through this. I wish they would hurry up and get the parts in so I can get my car fixed and be safe on the road."

Angie says she's already noticed the car jumping when she puts her foot on the accelerator.

A GM Customer Service representative said the notice is just an "early heads up". In fact, she said she thinks GM might have panicked people by issuing this recall too soon.

David: Showers and storms ongoing across the Valley

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
