FAYETTEVILLE, TN (WAFF) - Misty Shelton, the suspect in a Tennessee vehicular homicide case, pleaded guilty to 14 counts on Tuesday.
Shelton stole a police cruiser in Fayetteville last August after she was caught shoplifting from a dollar store.
As she was driving the car at a high rate of speed, Shelton T-boned an SUV with five people inside. Henry Holt, 55, was killed and four other people in the SUV were injured.
The police car then crashed into a gas pump, ending the chase. Shelton was also injured and treated at the hospital before her arrest.
Shelton pleaded guilty to 14 counts in connection with the case, including:
- Theft over $1,000
- Open container
- Theft of $10,000-$60,000
- Two counts of DUI
- Evading arrest
- Three counts of reckless endangerment
- Vandalism of $10,000-$60,000
- Vehicular assault
- Two counts of vehicular homicide
Shelton was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
