HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Huntsville Hospital will donate patrol car tactical kits to Huntsville and Madison police and the Madison County Sheriff's Office Wednesday.

Officers can use these to help accident victims or on themselves if they get injured.

The kit contains advanced first aid supplies.

Officers and deputies can use those to perform lifesaving procedures within those crucial "first five minutes" before EMS or firefighters arrive at the scene.

Hospital representatives say the kits are helpful because, quite often, police officers are the first to arrive at the scene.

These advanced kits can help people who have serious injuries from car accidents, gunshot wounds, or stabbings.

A doctor will train officers and help them get familiar with the medical supplies in their kits and how to properly use them.

A big chunk of funding for these kits comes from the Madison County Delegation.
