JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A New study says that $100 has more real value in Mississippi than any other state, giving Mississippians the biggest bang for your buck.

Because  the average prices for similar goods are much higher in California and New York than in Mississippi, the same amount dollars will buy you less.

The study, prepared by the Tax Foundation, says $100 in Mississippi is worth $115.74, the best in the nation. It's worth the least, $84.60, in the District of Columbia.

A person who makes $40,000 a year in Mississippi after taxes would have to have after tax earnings of around $60,000 in Washington D.C. just to have an equal standard of living.

People who live in the southeast and Midwest seem to be getting the most for their money.
