Brita recalls children's water bottles due to laceration hazard

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Water filtration manufacturer Brita has recalled more than 242,000 water bottles designed for children due to a laceration hazard.

The four recalled models have popular cartoon characters on a hard-sided plastic bottle:

  • Dora the Explorer (violet)
  • Hello Kitty (pink)
  • SpongeBob Squarepants (blue)
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (green)
The company said there have been 35 reports of lids cracking or breaking. No injuries have been reported, however the company issued the recall to due the injury potential.

Customers are asked to contact Brita for a postage-paid shipping container to return the bottles for a full refund. You can call Brita at 1-800-926-2065 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central time, or visit the Brita website and click 'Safety Recall' for more information.
