MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

There are new disturbing allegations against an employee at the Central Alabama Veterans Administration.

A report shows the employee introduced a veteran recovering from addiction to a known drug dealer and helped him buy drugs.

A published internal investigative report shows a worker at Central Alabama Veterans Health Care Services Tuskegee Campus was a former patient in the drug addiction treatment program.

The Montgomery Advertiser published the report that says the employee took a recovering veteran patient off campus to a crack house, bought the veteran illegal drugs, may have extorted VA payments to pay for vehicles and services from a prostitute, and fraudulently claimed overtime pay for all the extracurricular activities.

According to published reports, the worker was found guilty of "patient abuse, misuse of government vehicles, filing false overtime requests and multiple ethics violations," and the worker is still employed at CAVHCS more than a year after the incident.

Rep. Martha Roby issued this statement today:

"The more we discover the more clear the severity of the accountability problem at CAVHCS becomes. Congress has given Secretary McDonald unprecedented authority to make the changes necessary to clean up the mess. If he is looking for an opportunity to use his new authority to achieve reform, the Central Alabama VA would be a great place to start."

Roby and Sen. Richard Shelby sent a letter to Secretary McDonald nearly as soon as he was appointed last month, asking him to visit the Central Alabama VA, and reform it from the top down.

The Central Alabama Veterans Healthcare System was ranked one of the worst in the country recently when it came to patient wait-times.

VA Officials say they have since made widespread improvements.
